How do I search for images?

Firstly you don't need to register to view our images!

Searching for images can be frustrating but here are some tips that will make it just a little bit easier.

Firstly you can do a word search in the 'include words' field. You can add one or more words in the 'include words' field but make sure you put a comma in between each word. If you want to exclude words then place these in the 'exclude words' field below.

You can search for portrait, landscape or both by selecting on the orientation drop down bar.

If you only require model released images then click on the 'model released only' tick box.

Sometimes you may find it easier to search by categories. At Socialstock our images are broken up into ten main categories with sub categories. Simply click on the chosen category and then click on the drop down selection of sub categories, again you can select the orientation and model released option to refine your search. You can also add keywords in the top field to make to search even more refined.

If you find an image you like, click on it and have a look at the keywords, this may help you find new keywords to use on a fresh search and result in finding similar images.

How do I download an image?

Whether you are registered or not, once the image has been purchased, your image or images are simply downloaded to your desktop from your cart.

Can I commission a photographer?

Yes. Socialstock has a network of photographers all over the UK which enables us to find you a local and reliable photographer. We can cover an local event or organise a full days photoshoot.

If I can't find the right image in the library, is there an alternative?

Yes. Email or phone the picture desk and we can search our network of photographer's and our own archives for suitable images. If we still can't find the right image for you, we will put out a request to our photographers, there's a high chance we can get the image shot and at no extra cost!

What is a 'single use' image ?

A 'single use' image allows you to use the image once for a particular job, once the job is complete that image cannot be used again unless paid for. We are a aware that Local Authorities can do very large print runs, therefore we do not restrict the print run usage. If you require a multi use license, simply email us what you need to use the image(s) for and we will send you a revised price.

What restrictions are there on using a socialstock image?

Images cannot be used to endorse a trademark, product or business. Images cannot be used for illegal, malicious, pornographic or defamatory purposes. Images cannot be used in advertising unless consultation with Socialstock has taken place regarding additional fees.

What can I use socialstock images for?

Images can be used for printed promtional material, editorial, newsletters, book covers, direct mail, trade show marketing. a full list is available in our 'terms and conditions'. Images can be used on websites but there is a seperate charge, stated on our pricing page.

Can I use images for Advertising?

Yes, but only if the image is model released and an additional license is granted by Socialstock. This is ONLY granted by contacting the picture desk first where a new license is released with appropriate additional charges.

What if I am unsure about the usage?

Phone the picture desk and we can help discuss the usage intended or send an email and we will phone you back.

How can I pay?

There are two ways to pay for a Socialstock images.
